Development Update
Animatic
Feedback
Following showing our animatic to the audience we asked for feedback.
We learnt that:
- They didn't really understand the narrative, wasn’t clear enough for them.
- The audience liked the general idea, however didn't feel like we were portraying in the best way, they thought the structure of how the narrative was presented could be better.
- They thought that we could be slightly more imaginative with how we portrayed the narrative, i.e More Flashbacks, Different Framing shots - make more interesting.
- Liked the Flashback idea of the memories, thought it helped to engage them emotionally however they suggested that more than just the memories in the park might be a good idea. One person even stated that potentially could have several shot and sharp memories of the family.
Having received this extremely constructive feedback, we now have to go back to the original storyboards and re-create them incorporating the feedback received in order to ensure that our music video appeals to the target audience, as this is initially for the video to be successful.

Live Performance
This weekend we went to a gig of Paddy's in the Hudson Bar to see him preform live and also record and take photos of him that we will use for the website to improve it. From this we took some amateur footage and we also got talking to the manager there who was taking professional footage for his music business for young artists and now we have access to this. Adding this into our website will gave an audience access to see Paddy preform live and hear some alternate versions of songs he may not have posted on his SoundCloud. This is some of the footage we got:

Development
Following our planning we have developed new ideas which we hope to incorrupt to our video. Our feedback from viewers allowed us to see that we needed to make our idea more appealing and add something more so that our idea wasn't too simplistic and therefore boring. These new ideas can be viewed on the group blog.
Following looking at these ideas we are now going to begin creating a new and improved animatic and once this is finished we are going to start filming and bring our music video to life. As well as this we are going to begin a photo-shoot for our artist. As part is this we will be going to a gig of paddy's and seeing him preform live which will give us the opportunity to take photos for the website and take videos to post on his new website with the aim of giving fans a look more closely at him and seeing him preform live.

Planning
We have now began to plan the ideas we hope to fufill in our music video. We have began to follow the process of making a story board which contains our ideas and we hope to finalise it and show it to our peers and get feedback which will act as constructive criticism. We began, as a group, to talk of the ideas we have took a keen interest to from looking at our research and we put this information together to help form an idea. To do this we made four possible final ideas and then we talked about how realistic they would be in terms of being able to make by getting actors, locations and being able to make within our time frame. These ideas were as follows:
Option 1:
Girl on her own 'lost' essentially, following the ed sheeran - the A team theme
Story related to drug issues perhaps
Option 2:
Idea like the Luminers - Stubborn Love theme
Girl leaving her dad - moving away
This story to fit in with the possible song choice of 'when i was young'
Option 3:
Parents fighting - children (brother/sister)
He takes her to the park - With our singer Paddy appearing as a busker for a brief period
Brother and sister stop busker - young girl gives money making the singer appear to the audience more clearly
Option 4:
2 children displaying friendship
Shows the girl getting on the bus - meeting the boy
Cute activities - child like with an adult edge to them
When we have chosen are selected idea we will ensure that it is in fitting with the song we have chosen and then we will begin to start looking more closely at carrying out or ideas. This will involve selecting actors that will play our characters, finding locations that suit our ideas, organising costumes, and creating a timetable so we can start recording our music video and make it come to life. Once we have began to do this we may realise that some changes may need to be made due to things like perhaps it didn't look correct once filmed and perhaps we didn't like this idea once we watched it back. If this does happen we may have to play about with the typical codes and conventions and possibly put our own individual twist on what is typical of an indie pop artist. Some pictures of our story board can be seen our group blog.
Throughout this process of making our media products we realised that communication between our group would be crucial for our success. We therefore decided to create a 'whatsapp' group for the using organising filming days and we also created a private Facebook group so we are able to share ideas with one another, ideas that perhaps we had not originally thought of but have now came across.
An example of something we found recently that we decided that we liked was the music video shown below. We particularly liked this music video as it was similar to the ideas we are hoping to do in that it contains a narrative with a small appearance by the artist. We also liked the filming techniques in this video as it contained things such as slow motion and close ups, which we aim to incorporate into our video.
Another video we discovered that we found we liked and hope to try and incorporate some ideas from in out video is shown below. We like the use of slow motion and the rewind effect.

Research Conclusion
From our research we have now concluded that our audience will mostly appeal to a female audience of the ages around 16-25. We hope to appeal to this audience by using the information we have found from the similar artists and the techniques these artists use to help promote themselves. Our research has allowed us to form a basis for our ideas and now we are going to start using this information and apply it to making a story board for our music video so we can start filming soon and make our product. We have also been in contact with out chosen artist, Paddy Sloan, and have got some information from him in what type of music video he envisages when he thinks of the lyrics of his song and the type of artist he wants to be perceived as. Since our presentation Paddy has also informed us that he has written and recorded a new song so we plan to listen to this and take it into consideration for the video we are going to make.
We have decided that we are most likely going to stick to the normal codes and conventions of an indie pop act. We have looked closely at the two videos shown below and we realised that we would like a music video of this style:
1. Kodaline - All I Want
2. The Lumineers - Stubborn Love
We liked these videos due to the fact that there is a story line that is simplistic but has a meaning. The artist only appears for a small period of time which we thought was a nice touch as it concentrates more on the actual song rather than the looks of the artist which in today's society it can be very common for acts to be liked more for their actual appearance rater than the music, for example in my opinion One Direction. These two videos show a story line which we particularly liked as we thought it fit well with out artist and the potential songs we are going to use. We hope to create a story line like this of our own and tie it in with the lyrics and also have a small appearance of the artist in the video. We believe this will work well and hopefully when we suggest these ideas to other people they will agree, and if so we are going to begin creating an idea and making a story board out of it. I think this method will create a more memorable video for the audience as its a story, and if interesting enough, everyone can remember a story especially when it as a meaning that people can identify with.
Our Artist - Paddy Sloan
Our artist is Paddy sloan, a 17 year old boy singer song writter. He started of making his own covers of songs he particularly liked and then went on to write his own songs which we are going to pay attention to. A link to his sound cloud is shown below, which we have used to access his music and use for any updates he has made, such as the creation of a new songs or covers:

Class Presentation
As a group, we made a presentation which consisted of our collective ideas for our band. This contained information such as similar artists and are findings into what our audience will be like. We then presented this to our class and at the end give out surveys to help us find out more information, for example, we played the possible songs for our artist and part of the survey was to answer which was the favourite song. A video of this presentation can be found below along with the findings from our survey:
